Gracz Says No To MATC

Over the past weekend, the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported that Greg Gracz was the front contender for the HR position at MATC. Just one day before he would have been approved for the job, he withdrew his name from consideration for the job.

The MJS kept referring to a sex scandal he allegedly was involved with 16 years ago, and the fact that Ellen Bravo was contacting members of the MATC board to talk to them about this issue. Gracz denies any correlation between Bravo's actions and his withdrawal.

I'd be more prone to give him the benefit of the doubt on this one, except that he couldn't even come up with a decent excuse. From the article:
Gracz said the sexual harassment allegations were untrue and had nothing to do with why he withdrew his name. He said he backed out of the job because he learned that MATC had recently extended contracts with all of its employee bargaining units until 2011.

“What I enjoy doing is negotiating contracts,” Gracz said. “It appeared (the job) was going to be more HR-related, and my expertise is more in labor relations.”

That line reminded me a lot of Moose-alini, who was also questioned about her opinion on a job she is vying for:

"As for that V.P. talk all the time, I'll tell you, I still can't answer that question until somebody answers for me, what is it exactly that the V.P. does every day? I'm used to being very productive and working real hard and in administration. We want to make sure that that V.P. slot would be a fruitful type of position."

How can one get that far in the hiring process and not know what the job is about?

Anywho, it's not the end of the road for Gracz. He is the contract negotiator for Milwaukee County, and most, if not all, of the unions in the County have their contracts expiring at the end of this year and have entered negotiations. Maybe if he's hoping that if he does a good job, Scott Walker will give him a nice big raise as well.
