A Tombstone For Christopher Thomas

The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel is reporting that a group of people are trying to raise money to give Christopher Thomas, the baby boy killed while in the care of the Bureau of Milwaukee Child Welfare, a tombstone:

Christopher's maternal grandfather, Kenny McClellan, said he and his wife have already made a down payment on a $1,000 marker. McClellan, who lives in Georgia, said he and his wife are grateful for the group's support.

A memorial fund has been set up through TCF Bank. Checks, which should be made out to Citizens Protecting Abused Children, can be dropped off at any TCF branch or mailed to: TCF National Bank. 4375 S. 76th St., Greenfield, WI, 53220.

If donations exceed the cost of Christopher's headstone, the money will benefit his sister - who is in a foster home - and to help other foster children or their families, Welk said.

A graveside candlelight vigil in memory of Christopher is scheduled for Jan. 10 at Graceland Cemetery, 6401 N. 43rd St. The vigil, which begins at 5 p.m., is sponsored by Citizens Protecting Abused Children.
