He Sure Told Me

Once again, Kevin Binversie took umbrage when I demonstrated Scott Walker's inability to effectively manage Milwaukee County. He thinks that he sure told me when he cites a JSOnline article about the state needing to borrow $800 million to help with their cash flow.

Of course, it would have been more convincing if the article didn't also mention that the money was going to local governments and school boards, which includes Milwaukee County.

It also would have been more convincing if the State didn't have to spend extra money to take over and run programs that Walker proved to be incapable of running himself.

It also might have helped if everyone had forgotten that Milwaukee County had to take out a $400 million loan in the form of a risky pension obligation bond that only covers about half of Walker's debt to the pension.

And I feel safe to say that it doesn't help that Walker now wants the board to approve asking the state for another $2 million loan (pdf, item #2).

Another small item that Kevin got wrong include that it's AFSCME D.C. 48. D.C. 40 is in Madison. But like I said, that is a small thing.

On a side note, in my original post, I noted that there was no real warning that Walker was going to pull this stunt. The Milwaukee Journal Sentinel finally caught on too, a week after they originally reported the story.
