Not The Kind Of Headline You'd Want When You're Behind In The Polls

From an astute reader:

US election: Mitt Romney may have breached ethics laws through company linked to Paul Ryan's brother

Mitt Romney may have breached state ethics laws as Governor of Massachusetts by holding a stake in a company that did lucrative work for his administration and was linked to the family of Paul Ryan, a Daily Telegraph investigation has found.

  1. I would imagine that Mitt's failure to release his tax returns now (though he showed John McCain all sorts of returns when being vetted as possible VP partner in 2008) to the public has a lot to do with ethical problems being exposed in his campaign now--maybe lots of questionable connections with things having to do with his 2012 platform.
Probably the same could be said about Tommy Thompson's refusal to show returns now that he's cashed in on business connections since leaving his public job for Bush's HHS.

  2. Be sure to read the Daily Telegraph link for the Wisconsin connection.

More on the Wisconsin connections (Tobin Ryan, Steve King, Reince Priebus) here:

  4. John McCain has apparently seen Mitt Romney's tax returns as part of the team that vetted the candidate. John McCain COULD say he's seen the tax returns and confirm that Mitt has paid his taxes (and at what rate). BUT...McCain's not speaking. My guess: McCain doesn't want to get caught in a lie...

    1. John McCain flew planes. Mitt Romney and his wife (and horses) fly on planes. Some friends of Mitts probably own some companies that like to fire pilots.

Mitt spent 30 months living in France in a chateau. Mitt's extended stay away from Vietnam began sometime in 1966 and lasted 30 months. John McCain spent from October 26, 1967 to March 14, 1973 in captivity in North Vietnam.

Even a smart rich guy like Mitt must not have been able to figure out that all those draft deferments he requested were going to get in the way of what he wanted to do.
“I longed in many respects to actually be in Vietnam and be representing our country there, and in some ways it was frustrating not to feel like I was there as part of the troops that were fighting in Vietnam.”

I am sure that John McCain has the utmost respect for prevaricating chickenhawks like Mitt. The last thing he would do is let Mitt twist in the wind just because the press is full of small minded people wanting to peep his taxes for a cheap thrill.
