The Walker Budget Keeps Working! Part CXXXIX

As we have pointed out time and time again, when Scott Walker took away the people's money and gave it to Big Business, it meant that people had less money to spend. And with less money to spend, demand for any given product or service will drop. And with less demand, the manufacturer or service provider will be forced to scale back operations. And so the sad story of Fitzwalkerstan goes, such as in Kenosha:

Cenveo Inc. will close its envelope plant in Kenosha by Oct. 19 in a move that will result in the loss of 103 jobs.

The plant at 5612 95th Ave. in Kenosha was owned by MeadWestvaco until Stamford, Conn.-based Cenveo bought that company last year.

"The closure of this facility will be permanent, and the entire manufacturing plant will be closed," the company said in a filing with the state Department of Workforce Development.

Cenveo, which makes labels and calls itself the largest envelope producer in the world, said this month its sales fell 7% in the second quarter, citing lower direct mail volumes that hurt its print and envelope product lines.

Can you see the cycle?

The less people have to spend at businesses, the less the businesses have to spend. So these businesses cut back, such as in mailings. With less mailings, the less the need for envelopes. And thus the envelope company closes and we lose another 103 jobs.

Sad to say, instead of creating jobs this summer, as he promised, Walker has been spending all of his time trying to remain relevant.
